Welcome to the unofficial Connecticut Turnpike Site

From the rolling hills of Windham County to the concrete canyons of Bridgeport and Stamford, the Connecticut Turnpike has been part of life in southern Connecticut for nearly half a century.  Depending on the part of Connecticut the turnpike is located, it's also referred to as Interstate 95, Interstate 395, Route 52, and Route 695.

The past 45 years have been a time for transition across Connecticut, and the turnpike has been an important part of recent history, and it will continue to play a vital role in the future of Connecticut's transportation system and the communities it serves.  This site presents a historical overview of the turnpike, as well as outline upcoming improvements to the Connecticut Turnpike.  Finally, the author will suggest alternatives for overcoming southwest Connecticut's gridlocked highway network.

The Connecticut Turnpike Trailblazer was a rare sight, even when the highway was still a toll road.
